INTERPRETIVE SIGNAGE
The Breakout Creek Interpretive Signage project involved the design and construction of ten informative signs installed on the banks of the River Torrens at strategic viewing areas on the north and south sides of Henley Beach Road. The design concept was to create an ‘environmentally conscious’ platform or base that was ‘bullet-proof’ being installed in public areas, but also allow for interpretive information to be contained within that could change or be updated from time to time. Construction materials used included custom-made South Australian red gum sleepers set in reinforced concrete foundations with steel uprights with a rusted patina finish laser cut with a series of the organisation’s corporate icons. The result is a public-friendly modern interpretive sign that will truly survive the test of time while blending effectively with the natural surrounds of the wetlands. The concept has since been implemented throughout the SA Surf Lifesaving head office and branches.
